Meet The Band
Lexi DeRock and The Sugarfoot Blues Brigade are a Melbourne based band performing all original music. The best way to describe their music is Jazzrockbluesabillydixielandswingandsway… concise enough for you? A special blend of blues, western swing, jazz and comedy!
you?
The group is headed by Lexi DeRock an American import who also writes the sweet tunes the band throws down. Lexi has been performing for going on 15 years writing her own brand of comedy infused blues and jazz..with a little “Je ne sais quoi.. mais j’aime!” thrown in for good measure.
Lexi Recently relocated to Melbourne from Paris where she spent the last four years writing and performing in various bars and cafes with some of the best musicians Paris has on offer.
In 2009 She released her debut self-produced album Keeping Up With The Joneses and this year she is looking forward to recording her second album in her new home..Melbourne with her fantastic new band THE SUGARFOOT BLUES BRIGADE!
MEET THE BAND

GUITAR - Chris Gassin
Chris may be young in years, but you’d never know it from the swift riffs sailing from his fingertips. A Melbourne man, Chris studied music at the Box Hill Institute and has toured his sweet brand of finger lickin’ jazz all round town. And when he’s not performing he’s teaching so if you’re looking for the man to help you take your guitar playing up to 11…Chris is your guy!

TRUMPET Jeremy Meaden
Jeremy is a jazz/soul/funk horn man who cut his teeth playing in Brass bands and got his degree in sound art and design before heading out to do a stint playing in Belfast with pop/rock band The Vals. After touring Europe and recording a successful single with the band, he decided it was time to get back to his roots in Oz. Lucky for him and for us Sugarfoot was waiting with open arms!

DRUMS - Farhad Ravanbakhsh
Farhad is the fella camped out behind the drum kit keeping everything rock steady! Farhad joins Sugarfoot all the way from Iran where he studied jazz at a conservatory before going on to teach jazz drums for three years. He’s fairly recently transplanted down undah but you’d be wise to remember his name..cause it’ll be the answer the the question “Who is that jazz devil kickin’ out all those sweet lick!?”
UPRIGHT BASS - Tom Black
Doghouse, Double Bass, Bull Fiddle, Contra Bass…Whatever you call it..Tom’s the man to play it! Tom has joined Sugarfoot from his homeland of Tasmania and we couldn’t be happier to have him thumping away with the sweet swing and sway!
